Meet Lauren.
Nashville songwriter. Netflix composer. Accidental gardener. Girl's girl.
01. I was set up at a church spaghetti dinner and never looked back. My husband is a banker by day and an eighties hair metal guitarist on the weekends. You know what they say — opposites attract!
02. I would rather scrub a toilet than unload the dishwasher or finish the laundry. I will get dressed out of the dryer for a week. I am who I am.
03. A perfect Saturday starts with coffee the second my feet hit the floor. We have two hundred acres of land in Southern Tennessee that belonged to my husband's father before he passed. It's where we go to feel close to him. We built a little steel barn, parked an old RV on the property, and now it's ours. The local vet leases the land and works the cattle. Wild turkeys show up almost every time. We hit the Amish market down the road, grab lunch at the convenience store, take a sunset four-wheeler ride around the property with our son. S'mores. Stars. Bed. I can feel my shoulders drop the minute we turn onto that road.
04. People assume musicians are drug addicts, heavy drinkers, and night owls who sleep until noon. Some of us are. I was watching Golden Girls with my grandmother even in elementary school. Give me a good book, a garden, and a 9PM bedtime and I am a happy girl. I have been grandmacore my entire life. Sorry not sorry.
05. My six year old is a railfan. I didn't know that word existed before he came along. I now know the difference between a Santa Fe, a Norfolk Southern, a Union Pacific, and a CSX. I know how they couple. I know their scanners. Other people groan when they get stopped at a train crossing. We go looking for them. Getting stuck by a train is our best day.
