Lauren Lucas
LAUREN'S PRESS

"She's generating praise for a voice that's bright, expressive, and immediately recognizable, as well as a genuine earthiness that can't be manufactured or taught."  NASHVILLE CITY PAPER

Featured in NASHVILLE SCENE'S list of "Five Women Threatening To Give Mainstream Music A Good Name," along with Lori McKenna, Sarah Buxton, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert.

"Because of her poppy spunk and girl-you-know delivery, the Columbia native will remind you of Dolly Parton sipping tea with Wynonna in a blues joint." THE STATE

"Lauren Lucas's self-released debut EP is bursting with songs that could be hits with some marketing muscle, but "Riverstone" isn't one of them. That's because it's a worthy addition to the great country tradition of murder ballads, which the genre has rejected in favor of fetishizing blameless death (preferably that of a child, ideally from cancer). But the lyrical image of a naked woman with a Bible in one hand and a whiskey bottle in the other? As a wise man (well, David Allan Coe, anyway) once sang, 'If that ain't country, I'll kiss your ass.'"  POP IDOLATOR

Columbia show Friday, Nov. 4th

Hello friends! I am really excited to be returning to Columbia and The White Mule this Friday, Nov. 4th! The White Mule is one of my favorite venues to play and this time I'm bringing a really great friend and supremely talented singer/songwriter, Sara Beck, to share the evening with me. Sara has been touring internationally over the past year & a half with Kevin Costner & Modern West as a guest vocalist and support act. Sara is originally from Maryland, and has released four independent records …

Just A Little Update...

Hey y'all! I am blog-challenged!  The best of intentions... right?  Well, no gold pavement for me.  I have been a very absent blogger.  I have been up to some fun stuff, though!  And I have some more fun stuff coming up that I want to tell you about. First of all, a re-cap of the summer:  I feel like I was out of town for almost all of it.  There were a lot of firsts for me this summer. I went camping for the first time in my entire life.  That was interesting. …

Bling-Off!

I went to my family's mountain home near Asheville, NC for the 4th of July weekend to celebrate my birthday and see my parents, sister, and her family. At one point, my youngest niece, Natalie, started talking about her life goals that she has written down in her journal. Natalie is 8-years-old, by the way. She said one of her life goals is to get a black belt in karate. Another life goal is she wants to be taller than her bigger sister (although we tried to explain that she has no control over that …

About Lauren & the New Album

Nashville singer/songwriter, Lauren Lucas, knows first-hand the familiar story of a small town girl moving to a music city, only to have her dream locked away in the vault of a major label. Finally free to release her music in her own way, Lauren partnered with Grammy-winning engineer, Chad Carlson, for her critically acclaimed 2007 EP, If I Was Your Girl. With Lucas’ engaging melodies and soulful voice, the project recently caught the attention of Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, who requested to hear the title track in an on-air radio interview with DJ Hall-Of-Famer, Gerry House.

Armed with a brand new record, On With the Show, Lucas is gaining momentum with fans and critics alike. She explores new points of view, both lyrically and musically, as she blends her rootsy-soul with more pop-tinged melodies, reminiscent of her influences, such as Jonatha Brooke, Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, and Sara Bareilles.

The record is produced by renowned drummer, Nick Buda (Colbie Callait, Taylor Swift, Mindy Smith), and features Rob McNelley (Delbert McClinton, Lady Antebellum) on guitars, John Deaderick (Patty Griffin, Michael McDonald) on keys, Tim Marks (Jewel, Taylor Swift) on bass, and many others. In keeping with the theme of moving onward in her own way, Lauren decided against the typical glamour-shot album cover, and asked her friend Jim Starlin, known for drawing and creating the most iconic villains for Marvel and DC Comics, to illustrate her album cover instead.

Tony nominated as a composer at the age of nineteen, and nominated by the ACM just a few years later, Lauren's accolades are impressive, but she's most proud of her live show. Lauren captivates audiences and it's easy to see her genuine love for the stage, whether she’s with her band or just her guitar. Lauren will be touring the US through the summer of 2011 in support of her new release.
